Job Description Summary:
The University of Kansas Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (KU ADRC) is a National Institute of Aging P30-designated national leader in AD research with the vision to impact the lives of every patient and family dealing with Alzheimer’s in the region and across the state of Kansas through our research, education, and clinical care. We are a comprehensive center at the forefront of clinical trials, lifestyle intervention trials, drug and translational research, and basic science research. Our research enables us to also provide leading edge clinical care and support for dementia caregivers. In addition, we provide a wide variety of both public education and training opportunities for the workforce of tomorrow.

Under the supervision of the Director of Engagement, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will support the external promotion of the KU ADRC. Including developing and implementing marketing activities related to recruitment strategy, enrollment, and engagement. The Marketing and Communication Coordinator is directly responsible for ensuring an adequate pool of potential participants to meet the enrollment goals for each KU ADRC research study. Maintaining collaborative working relationships with members of the community and KU ADRC leadership to develop and execute strategic marketing and communications plans. The Marketing and Communication Coordinator must understand all the different KU ADRC studies' unique needs as well as the various programs offered by the KU ADRC. Expectations include working directly with internal staff and external organizations.

Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, design, communications, or other related areas
Three (3) years of marketing and/or communication experience
Three (3) years of print media and digital design experience
Three (3) years of social media experience
One (1) year of website oversight
Highly creative abilities in problem-solving contexts
Strong oral communication skills including conducting presentations in a variety of contexts with a variety of audiences
Excellent written and verbal skills
Ability to meet timelines within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrates strong cultural competence and ability to work with people of different identities, such as ethnic, socioeconomic, racial, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and cultural differences.
Previous experience in clinical research, marketing, or sales
Previous experience in recruitment, community education, or outreach
Previous experience working with ethnically and racially diverse populations
Demonstrated ability to meet target goals/outcomes
Must have an inclusive mindset in thought and action
Comfortable with difficult health related conversations
Familiarity with challenges faced by underrepresented individuals in research and healthcare
Experience in activities designed to remove barriers and increase research participation
Experience in service of underrepresented groups
Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency
Ability to engage, inspire, and motivate others. Actively encourage them to be proactive and empower them to make decisions about their health.
Job Duties Outlined:
Collaborate with study coordinators and the Engagement team to develop and manage study-specific engagement plans. Develop creative marketing initiatives and oversee initiatives to meet study enrollment goals
Manage marketing metrics; obtain and organize data regarding the number of participants recruited for studies per each specific marketing initiative; evaluate marketing strategies for effectiveness and make recommendations to the study and recruitment teams accordingly
Identify the most effective advertising venues; plan and purchase time and/or space in various media outlets
Ensure all KU ADRC marketing and communication collateral adhere to the KU branding standards
Review and inventory all KU ADRC collateral
Manage KUADRC email - general and study-specific inquiries and all staff emails/meeting requests
Oversee the KU ADRC’s social media accounts and develop a social media communication plan
Monitor social media and news and have the capability to respond to social media after obtaining accurate information to respond and KUMC communications approval (as needed)
Maintain and update the KU ADRC website
Create SOPs for engagement and recruitment processes
Study specific tasks as determined by the Director
Other duties as assigned
