This position is responsible for assisting with financial aid counseling, using and maintaining financial aid systems, coordinating scholarship awards and loans when appropriate; processes promissory notes for loans; coordinates entrance and exit interview processes with students and campus colleges; responsible for various office and financial aid tasks. Employees at this level are expected to perform a variety of financial aid job responsibilities to include more complex functions within financial aid independently; may seek guidance from more senior staff for more complex and/or very unusual financial aid issues.

 

Duties:

  • Financial Aid Counseling Assistance. Assists with financial aid counseling services to students and families to discuss various financial aid matters, services, and resources available. This includes initial financial aid counseling .

  • Institutional and Title VII Loan Coordination. Maintains the awarding priorities for institutional loans and Title VII federal loans; coordinates the promissory note requirements for each award type’s unique considerations. Responsible for ascertaining that all loan documentation required for each loan is current with federal regulations. 

  • Financial Aid Systems.   Maintains all processing with promissory notes and procedures with ECSI and the financial aid system, which includes award files and advance files transferred securely.

  • Financial Aid Coordination/Processing.  Monitors a variety of daily, weekly, and monthly reports that identify student discrepancies or unresolved issues; responsible for resolving said issues as appropriate. Coordinates and oversees exit loan interviews for colleges.

  • Office/Administrative Support.  May provide general office and administrative support as needed.

  • As Needed.  Performs other duties as assigned to ensure successful operation of the department.

 

Job Requirements

Education: High School diploma or GED.

 

Experience:  48 months financial aid, general office, clerical, or related experience

 

Skill:

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to build rapport with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to produce reports and complete work within deadlines
  • Strong initiative to solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of federal financial aid, particularly the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) and federal verification complexities is expected of the Sr. Financial Aid Representative. 
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written communication to students and/or families

Preferences:

  • Prior higher education experience, particularly in the administration of federal financial aid application and eligibility.
  • Prior experience in an office setting in the coordination of multiple phone lines and walk-in traffic.
  • Office experience that includes Microsoft Office proficiency, particularly Excel.
  • 24 months experience directly related to financial aid
  • Punctual, dependable, and consistent in both attendance and performance
  • Friendly and courteous mannered
