Coordinator, Culinary Arts Procurement

Job Description Summary:

Responsible for procuring food, dry goods, kitchen equipment and chemical products used in the Culinary Arts Department. Evaluates purchased materials and vendor performance to ensure qualify for the culinary operation.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

1) Coordinates the purchase of goods for the culinary arts department with vendors.  Obtains updated pricing.  Compares between vendors to ensure that quality is maintained while keeping departmental costs down.
2) Inventories all ordered items, both perishable and non-perishable, and insure the quality of product. Returns any items not acceptable and follows up to make sure that credits are applied back to the department as needed.
3) Researches and sources specialty items requested by faculty instructors as needed. 
4) Processes invoices on all purchases.  Maintains warranties on equipment purchases.
5) Operates, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment.  Schedules maintenance and repairs of equipment, including sanitation and kitchen equipment. 
6) Updates and maintains the culinary arts lab budgets.
7) Establishes deliveries and services with vendors.
8) Monitors the success of products and services and revises as needed.
9) Ensures safe conditions including safe and secure handling and storage of food, supplies and equipment; recommends, implements, and maintains safety standards and departmental policies and procedures to comply with federal, state, and local hazardous materials, health and safety, hazardous waste regulations, and other applicable regulations.

* Knowledge of the practices, procedures and regulations relating to food service.
* Knowledge of the principles and practices used in ordering, receiving, and storing food.
* Knowledge of budgeting and accounting practices and procedures.

Required Work Experience
* Two years related work experience.

Required Education
* Associate degree.

Preferred Education
* Culinary Arts Certificate or Associate degree in Culinary Arts.

Physical Requirements
* Work is performed in a variety of settings including commercial kitchen areas.
* Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and at times subject to stooping, crawling, and climbing.
* May need to lift heavy objects of up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
* May be exposed to a variety of temperatures, noise, moving mechanical parts, or chemicals.
* Specific vision abilities may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to focus.

Salary Range

$49,205 - $61,506
