The Department of Population Health Sciences (DPHS) in the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) invites applications for an open full-time faculty tenure track position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank in the Division of Biostatistics and Data Science to start in Summer or Fall 2023. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience. Interest and ability in teaching a variety of graduate level statistics and/or data science courses will be an important factor in the selection of candidates, as will interest and ability in active collaboration with other investigators in biomedical, population health, and translational research within and outside of AU. The position will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities

• Conduct collaborative research with other investigators in biomedical, population health, and translational research within AU
• Work on projects coming to the department's Statistical Consulting Center
• Teach courses offered in the department's various graduate programs
• Provide services to the department

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Statistics or closely related field by the time the appointment begins.

Must have a wide breadth of knowledge of statistical methodology and have experience using SAS, R, or Python, etc.

Have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training

Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

• Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
• Evidence of ability as a teacher;
• Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
• Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
• Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
