West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for two Postdoctoral Fellows for the WVU Cancer Institute.

About the Opportunity

As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will be responsible for completing assigned tasks including review of material transfer agreements, patent applications and invention disclosures for the Office of Technology Transfer. You will work in the laboratory of Sonikpreet Aulakh, conducting research in the area of brain cancers.

What you'll do:

Design and conduct experiments (microscopy, tumor work in animals, tissue acquisition and staining, cell culture, molecular biology, Western blotting, RNA extraction and associated assays, etc.)
Compute data and analyze experimental data.
Write and edit manuscripts and construct research figures for publication.
Assist Dr. Aulakh in preparation of grant applications (intra and extramural).

Qualifications

Completion of a PhD degree or have met all degree requirements in the areas of biochemistry and cell and molecular biology.
0-6 months of relevant experience.
Ability to work in a team setting with members of the Office of Technology Transfer.
Conduct online searches of legal and technology databases.
Critical thinking and synthesis of invention and patent applications, producing relevant information germane to a specific application being evaluated.
All applicable aspects of established and primary cell culture, from thawing and acquiring cells to maintaining cultures and use in experimentation.
Production and use of recombinant engineered lentivirus, including transduction and downstream assays.
DNA, RNA and protein quantification from cells and tissues.
Production and oversight of patient-derived head and neck cancer tumors in immune compromised mice.
Generation of luciferase-expressing cells and injection into mice, with consistent imaging throughout experimental windows.
Western blot, PCR and DNA electrophoresis.
Conducting actin cytoskeleton-based assays with actin binding proteins.
Computational skills including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, GraphPad and Mendeley.
