Job Summary
University Campus Computer Support is seeking a System Administrator to assist in the support of the IT environment for the Athletics department. This position will work with various areas within Athletics and UIT to support desktop, server, specialized applications, systems and encompasses all area of IT. This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with faculty, staff and students to help foster and support University Athletic events. This position requires a continued learning effort for supporting new and old software and technology. This is an onsite position which will require on call and varied support hours as needed. This position also has physical requirements.
Responsibilities
• Proficient in loading, troubleshooting and supporting MS Windows and Macintosh desktop computer operating systems.
• Must be able to quickly and efficiently diagnose and resolve software, hardware, virus, and network connectivity issues for desktop, laptop, server, ipad, cell phone, etc.
• Responsible with writing, maintaining and implementing active directory group policies and group preferences.
• Position will be required to update, patch and support Microsoft server, RDS environments, web applications and assist with database mgt and reporting.
• Responsible for creating SCCM deployments for OS builds and software installs on desktop and laptop computers.
• Expected to be available outside of normal business hours. Position requires incumbent to be on call and to support athletic events.
• Responsible for reviewing, and creating documentation of support procedures.
• Position requires travel on and off campus using personal vehicle when support issues arise.
• Must be able to learn new applications, analyze the interconnections and support the end user and the server implementation of these applications.
• Expected to work autonomously with minimal administrative direction.

Environment: Will require lifting, bending, moving equipment, standing for long periods of time, running cable, climbing stairs, and repetitive desk work such as typing and long-term sitting.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) with at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Preferences
• Extensive experience with configuration and support of Microsoft Window operating systems, MS Office products, Adobe products and their best practices.
• Experience with setup, maintenance and support of Microsoft server, web services, sql database reporting, and RDS environments.
• Experience with supporting and maintaining Macintosh operating systems and the installation, configuration and use of Virtual box.
• Experience with technical writing and writing end user procedure or instructional documentation.
• Experience with Active directory structure and the configuration of Group Policies and Group Preferences.
• Excellent customer support and customer relations skills with a professional demeanor.
• Strong coordination, organization, time management, and demonstrated communication skills.
