Job Summary

The Audio Visual Systems Engineer I coordinates the design, programming, installation, testing and maintenance of Audio Visual (A/V) infrastructure for optimal performance on the FGCU campus and satellite locations. Monitors system performance and resolves related problems.

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Coordinates the design, programming, installation, testing and maintenance of the A/V infrastructure.
Creates standard specifications and works with construction/remodels of classrooms and other spaces.
Installs new software and infrastructure upgrades, evaluates and installs hardware, monitors system performance, and resolves escalated problems.
Administers the A/V environment and configurations.
Works with vendors coordinating installation of A/V hardware and system upgrades in new construction.
Researches new A/V technologies.
Monitors and maintains continuity with system licensing and maintenance agreements.
Serves as an escalation point for IT User Support Specialists and A/V technicians.
Tracks problems in the work order system.
Maintains records, forms, and system related installation documentation.
Develops new techniques and procedures to enhance university systems infrastructure.
Reviews processes, evaluates results, recommends new processes, and promotes best practices.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related field.
One year of professional full-time related experience with A/V design, programming, functionality and controls.
Experience with video conferencing solutions.
Experience with commercial A/V equipment, setup, and operation.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related field.
Experience with AMX, Crestron and Extron programming.
Experience with basic networking concepts (e.g. Systems, Protocols, Directory Services).
Experience with Lecture Capture technologies.
Experience with relevant business systems, operating systems, and enterprise management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of basic networking concepts (e.g. Systems, Protocols, Directory Services).
Knowledge of commercial A/V equipment, setup and operation (sound boards, mixers, amplifiers, matrix switchers etc.
Knowledge of and ability to manage audio visual control equipment such as Crestron/AMX/Extron.
Knowledge of business systems, operating systems, and enterprise management.
Knowledge in vendor relations and management.
Skill in project management of small initiatives, and troubleshooting.
Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
