The Business Intelligence Developer in the Office of Decision Support is responsible for creating and maintaining data solutions to support the University's strategic plan and student success initiatives. The incumbent will work closely with key stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into functional specifications that can be implemented using BSU's data warehouse, operational data files, and business intelligence tools. This position is responsible for analyzing and understanding business requirements to design, develop, test and deploy reporting and analytical solutions to enable stakeholders to make informed decisions that support the University's strategic plan and improve student success. The incumbent will also play a key role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data used in reporting and analytics.

We're seeking an experienced BI Developer to join the Office of Decision Support. As the BI Developer, you'll work closely with key stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into functional specifications. You'll analyze data to provide insights and support decision-making that aligns with the University's strategic plan and supports student success. You'll also be responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data used in reporting, analysis and analytics.

Job Function:

The Business Intelligence Developer in the Office of Decision Support is responsible for creating and maintaining data solutions to support the University's strategic plan and student success initiatives. The incumbent will work closely with key stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into functional specifications that can be implemented using BSU's data warehouse, operational data files, and business intelligence tools. This position is responsible for analyzing and understanding business requirements to design, develop, test and deploy reporting and analytical solutions to enable stakeholders to make informed decisions that support the University's strategic plan and improve student success. The incumbent will also play a key role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data used in reporting and analytics.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Statistics, Decision Support, Information Systems, or related field.

Minimum Experience:

At least one year of experience in business intelligence field.

Preferred Experience:

3+ years of experience in business intelligence field. Experience in a higher education setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into functional specifications

  • Develop, test and deploy reporting and analytical solutions using data warehousing and business intelligence tools.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity and accuracy in all reporting and analytics.
  • Analyze data to provide insights and support decision-making that aligns with the University's strategic plan and supports student success.
  • Work with the IT team to maintain data systems and develop new solutions as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to end-users in accessing and using BI tools and solutions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of BI solutions, including technical specifications and user guides.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in business intelligence and data warehousing technologies.
  • Manage the organization of content and user access on Ball State’s Tableau Server.
  • Serve as IRDS point of contact for the resolution of new access requests troubleshooting of access issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
