Responsibilities
Responsible for professional social work services and assisting multiple sclerosis patients to include identifying medical assistance programs and mobility assistance programs; assisting patients with insurance and prior authorization questions, performing neuropsychological evaluations, counseling patients and/or patient care partners. Serves as an educational resource for patients/families for disease-oriented support. Provides case management services and may give presentations to a variety of audiences.

Essential Functions

Assessment - Completes comprehensive psychosocial and other appropriate assessments for patients; may interview patients as well as their family members/significant others to gather relevant information; effectively uses professional skills, objectivity and insight to interpret data and to identify viable options.

Education & Resources - Gives presentations regarding the autoimmune disease clinic to patient groups, other health care providers, and potentially donors. Assists patients with health related issues acting as their educational resource for disease-oriented support; interprets and explains medical assistance, mobility assistance benefit programs to patients and helps with insurance and prior authorization questions.

Counseling & Support Services - Provides case management and counseling services as appropriate; provides advice, guidance, and emotional support and other assistance as needed to patients.

Treatment Input & Reporting - Presents regular informal oral presentations of progress and results to the supervisor and colleagues. Maintains the highest standards of ethical behavior.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Candidates should possess knowledge of professional, clinical social work best practices, principles, and theories; knowledge of community social services and resources; skills in medical charting/documentation; relevant technology skills; the ability to achieve desired results; ability to analyze data and solve problems; works effectively in a team environment; ability to demonstrate originality, creativity, to explore new paths and approaches to treatment; consistently displays industriousness, conscientiousness, and dependability in performing tasks and to continuously maintain the highest standards of ethics; able to plan and anticipate, to forecast, set objectives and to adjust to changing facts and circumstances; has the ability to prepare highly complex statistical data; strong communication skills (both oral and written); demonstrates the ability to handle stressful situations.


Qualifications
Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school. Current Oklahoma Clinical Social Work licensure required (LCSW).
