Responsibilities
Job Summary/Basic Function

The Lee laboratory investigates mechanisms of heart diseases using mouse models and molecular techniques. The duties of this position will involve mouse handling (managing mouse colony, ear tagging, injections, blood and tissue sample collection, histology, surgical procedures after proper training), molecular biology techniques (PCR genotyping, quantifications of RNA and protein), reagent preparation, supplies ordering, general laboratory maintenance and organization, and data collection and presentation to the Principal Investigator. Assignments are typically non-routine and variable in nature.


Qualifications
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in one of the biological sciences, physics, chemistry, or related area, or equivalent years of relevant lab experience. Ability and willingness to handle laboratory mice. Basic computer skills including internet software, order processing systems, and Microsoft Office software. Ability to comprehend instructions and to follow protocols. Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively present and exchange ideas, and to document procedures/data collected. Ability to be organized and perform precise and accurate work when dealing with samples and chemicals. Ability to compute basic mathematical operations, i.e., rate, ratio, percent, molarity, and unit conversions.
