Job Description

The purpose of this position is to support dislocated workers by assessing their existing education, transferable skills, and competencies; re-align them to high-demand industry sectors; and advise and support them in pursuing one of three paths: (1) reskilling that leads to immediate job placement; (2) short-term retraining based on new industry-recognized credentials or certificates that lead to rapid placement; or (3) longer-term training towards certificates or degrees that lead to placement in priority sectors. The navigator will provide a series of holistic assessments to determine the dislocated worker's skills and competencies. This process will enable job seekers to be appropriately matched with educational programs. Adult LEPs will be directed to 9 non-credit pathways that incorporate the I-BEST model and vocational English as a Second Language training. Navigators will collaborate with project SANDI leaders to collect data gathered in the intake process to inform the development of the "Skills Decoder" prototype with the goal of automating this process so that navigators can connect dislocated adults more efficiently and effectively to high-quality career pathways.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2 to 3 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work from a regionally accredited college/university.

  • Related Managerial experience.

  • Bilingual skills, Spanish speaking.

  • 3 years of experience in a field related to supervising student workers and providing student support.

  • Ability to supervise and train employees, organize, schedule, and prioritize schedules and assignments.

The duties, knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Excellent in Microsoft Suite.

  • Proficient in CSN data systems including LACES, Lumens, DRC Portal, etc.

  • Proficient and knowledgeable in workplace and educational assessments.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet constant/multiple deadlines.

  • Excellent in working in a team environment.

  • Demonstrates sensitivity to and respect for multi-cultural and multi-lingual populations.

  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends and have the ability to travel to offsite locations.

  • Proficient with the basic elements of research and report writing.

  • Knowledge of curriculum development and materials selection.

  • Knowledge of college services including Financial Aid, Admissions, Recruitment and Retention, Disability Resources, and the Division of Workforce and Economic Development.

Starting Salary Range

Administrative Faculty C
 

The minimum starting salary is $53,805. The successful candidate may be placed above the minimum based on education and experience.

This position is funded by grant dollars and is contingent upon ongoing and available funding.
