Position Summary
As part of a grant through the National Science Foundation Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program, UNT Dallas has established a STEM Center to focus on and increase the personal and professional resources available to our undergraduate STEM majors and to house the BAT-LSAMP Scholars program. Part of these resources include a tutor dedicated to physics and mathematics courses.
Typical duties will include:
Scheduling tutoring appointments
Tutoring UNTD undergraduate students in physical science courses, such as:
PHYS 1410 – General Physics I
PHYS 1420 – General Physics II
MATH 1314 – Algebra for STEM Majors
MATH 1316 – Trigonometry
MATH 1342 – Elementary Probability and Statistics
MATH 2413 – Calculus I
MATH 2414 – Calculus II
Maintaining records of students tutored
Attending and completing mandatory trainings
Creating resources for students such as handouts, videos, podcasts, etc.
Following appropriate safety procedures and security measures related to work performed

Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled UNT Dallas, UNT Dallas College of Law, HSC or UNT student in good standing and making satisfactory progress toward completion of a degree or certification program.

Applicants must possess the following:
Having earned a “B” or better in relevant physics and mathematics courses
Excellent customer service skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Some knowledge of office practices and procedures
Demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions accurately
Good interpersonal skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural and social backgrounds
Responsible, reliable, and self-motivated
Ability to learn assigned tasks readily, to adhere to prescribed routines, and to develop some skill in the operation of common office equipment
Preferred Qualifications
Having earned an “A” or better in relevant physics and mathematics courses
Fluency in Spanish or another other language in addition to English
Required License / Registration / Certification
