Job Profile Summary

Under general direction, this position supports department technical operations by performing a variety of professional and analytical duties to support short and long term reporting and analysis goals. Assists with requirement gathering, data verification, design, and testing and report creation to ensure end-user needs are met. Determines how best to meet data processing and analysis requirements/needs. Creates and runs reports using SAS EG and SQL coding to extract data. Converts reports from SAS EG to SQL. Performs related duties as assigned.

  

Minimum Education:

  • Associate’s degree required.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Two years in technology support including data analysis, statistical analysis in related field and/or designing programs to enhance the current system.
  • Experience with T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, SSMS Entity relationship modeling, SQL pivot functions, and importing data from Excel/CSV files.
  • Strong experience and ability to interpret, develop, and optimize complex Transact SQL tables, views, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Knowledge of and experience in SQL coding required. SAS EG coding preferred.
  • Experience with Power BI preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily - 30%: Designs, develops and creates reports, documentation, and related materials outlining research results; includes evaluating, organizing, verifying and extrapolating data using SAS EG or SQL coding. Ensures the integrity and accuracy of data and reports.
  • Daily - 10%: Participates in database maintenance, updating records and implementing required system changes. Coordinates and performs system update testing  Researches new trends and stays current with system updates to enhance reporting structures.
  • Daily - 10%: Coordinates and reports processing efficiency and effectiveness. Troubleshoots any problems and/or discrepancies in system and attains a true definition of the system problems from the users and makes recommendations for corrections.
  • Daily - 10%: Acts as a liaison for system issues and tasks that require discussion and coordination with other administrative areas.  Reports results or findings to the appropriate management and staff and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Daily - 20%: Assists with providing meaningful information and analysis by using appropriate software tools to analyze, verify and compile data form various sources.
  • Other - 15%: Coordinates and participates in system testing including updates and maintenance.  Ensures current test plans and reports all findings to appropriate users or management for prescribed action.
  • Other - 5%: Performs related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to facilitate and organize system software and testing and a basic understanding of higher education practices, and federal and state financial aid regulations.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to articulate testing, software issues, and reports to management and staff.
  • Requires the application of broad and deep technical knowledge in area of specialization.
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a diverse employee population.
  • Ability to plan and manage own workflow, priorities and results accomplishment.
  • Ability to interpret SAS proc SQL code.
