Job Description

The Department of Nursing Professional Development supports the mission of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute through products and services that prepare staff to deliver high quality, and safe care. We offer nursing orientation, a nurse residency program, continuing education and in-services, and competency programs for nurses and other nursing health care providers. Education Specialists and Clinical Specialists collaborate to support all clinical areas.

Our department serves as a liaison with the Florida Board of Nursing and maintains standards for continuing education provider status with the Board. We also coordinate student placements for undergraduate and graduate nursing students

 

We are currently looking for a Manager of Nursing Professional Development to join our team. 

 

Position Highlights:

The Manager of Nursing Professional Development represents the mission, philosophy and goals of the Cancer Center. In collaboration with the Nursing Professional Development Director, he/she is responsible for integrating current knowledge of oncology nursing and principles of adult learning to establish a program of education that is innovative and responsive to the needs of nurses and unlicensed assistive care providers.

 

The Manager of Nursing Professional Development actively supports, promotes, and demonstrates nursing professional development as a nursing practice specialty. In collaboration with nursing leadership he/she participates in the analysis, planning and strategic formation of nursing professional development in order to support lifelong learners in an interprofessional environment that facilitates continuous development and learning for the health care team. In collaboration with Human Resources and education partners in the community, he/she provides oversight for nursing student placements and clinical affiliation agreements.

 

The Manager of Nursing Professional Development ensures that education programs align with standards of regulatory agencies, and are consistent with the mission of the organization, the elements of the Nursing Professional Practice Model including concepts of Duffy's Quality Caring Model and the philosophy of nursing at Moffitt Cancer Center.

 

The Manager of Nursing Professional Development serves as the Nurse Residency Program (NRP) Manager who influences the professional role competence and professional growth of learners in a variety of settings. Responsibilities include ensuring onboarding is a fluid process from recruiting and hiring, to orienting, socializing, and integrating a newly licensed nurse into the organization with a focus on retention and growth.

Qualifications and Licensure:

  • Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution
  • At least five years of relevant nursing experience
  • Experience in professional development or staff education
  • Current Florida RN License
  • Specialty certification required
