Provide programmatic and administrative leadership of the East Central Indiana Area Health Education Center.

The College of Health is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative individual to serve as the Director of the East Central Indiana Area Health Education Center. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to build strong and lasting relationships with stakeholders and will have experience in preparing and presenting information to students, faculty, administrators, community members, and other groups and individuals with an interest in improving health in underserved and rural populations. This position is an excellent opportunity for healthcare professionals and educators with a strong knowledge of health professions and healthcare systems to serve in a leadership role.

The annual salary range for this opportunity is $60.000 - $73,000. 

Job Function:

Provide programmatic and administrative leadership of the East Central Indiana Area Health Education Center.

Minimum Education:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in health/medical field, health care planning or policy, education, business, or related area by date of employment.

Minimum Experience:

At least three years of combined experience in community development, health professions education and training, clinical work in rural or underserved communities, or provision or provision of health systems-related technical assistance.

Preferred Experience:

Experience writing and managing grants; experience in the development, delivery, and evaluation of healthcare related educational programs; experience building coalitions and partnerships; work experience in rural health care systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the ECI-AHEC.
  • Develop and coordinate programs with a variety of academic and community partners and measure program effectiveness in the short term and longitudinally.
  • Work cooperatively with Indiana AHEC Program Office staff to plan and implement programming and evaluation activities which will affect AHEC development throughout the state.
  • Ensure the ECI-AHEC is in compliance with commitments to the Indiana University School of Medicine (AHEC Grant Recipient), the Indiana AHEC Program Office, the Indiana State Department of Health, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and other funding sources.
  • Select, train, support, and direct staff, including contracted and temporary employees, to ensure program goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Provide financial management including forecasting needs; planning, implementing and monitoring budgets; balancing and adjusting goals; ensuring budget integrity and the appropriate use of financial resources; maintaining fiscal control; assuring accurate reporting to funding sources.
  • Develop, monitor and revise as necessary an annual work plan consistent with the AHEC mission, area needs assessment, and state/federal rules.
  • Collect and analyze data which are essential to accurately assessing regional health education needs.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the sustainability of the ECI-AHEC program by identifying and pursuing sources of external funding.
  • Provide tracking and evaluation reports to the Indiana AHEC Program Office, state, and federal officials; ensure data are properly gathered, entered into the tracking system, and analyzed for trends.
  • Coordinate communication, marketing, and public relations activities for the ECI-AHEC within the guidelines established by the University Marketing and Communications Office.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
