Overview
USU Advancement Services seeks applications for a Development Officer Analyst position. This entry-level position (Development Research Assistant) collaborates with major gift officers to develop and adjust fundraising goals and strategies, both annual and long-term. The position will report on fundraising progress towards goals and identification of new prospects, and will conduct research and analysis on individuals, corporations, and foundations that are prospects for significant financial support, or who can help to advance the university in other ways (e.g., through influence or volunteer activity). Development Officer Analysts are expected to be reactive and responsive to requests from university staff, as well as proactive in expanding the pool of potential prospects and bringing to the attention of the Development Staff those that offer the greatest promise of return. Development Officer Analysts create, manage, and update constituent records in the alumni donor database; actively seek to maintain data integrity; and assist with developing and implementing best practices and database processes.



This position must meet the highest standards of confidentiality, quality, accuracy, and timeliness.

Responsibilities
Schedule monthly meetings with fundraisers to consult and strategize on prospect management assignments and tracking.
Consult with the fundraisers to establish and adjust fundraising goals and strategies, both annual and long-term.
Develop a relationship of trusted partner with Development Officers. Provide encouragement, additional resources and support.
Assist in identifying individuals, corporations, and foundation prospects for major gift support, influence or volunteer leadership. Conduct in-depth financial and biographical research and compose profile reports highlighting key information for USU leadership.
Assist gift processing team with opening mail and scanning gift documentation
Creates, manages and updates constituent records in the alumni donor database, follows best practices for problem resolution to maintain data integrity. Assists with developing and implementing best practices and database processes.
Others duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of higher education fundraising principles.
Experience with Millennium, Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Manager (Reeher), Banner, or other relationship management data systems.
Experience working in a philanthropic or higher education environment.
Be familiar with a broad range of research techniques, including traditional text and periodical based research, searching of computerized databases, and the use of such other sources as court records, real estate records, the internet, and census data.
Three years of work experience in an office setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Aptitude for data analytics, understanding for and ability to analyze and interpret the data presented. Excel at uncovering hidden trends in a volume of data.
Proven track record of reliability, effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and will thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and maintenance skills and ability to function well within multiple teams.
Demonstrate excellent computer and database skills. Experience with Excel is a plus.
Customer service oriented. Able to function independently while working in a “team oriented” environment, taking the initiative to be productive and efficient and use independent judgment.
Possess strong problem-solving abilities. Creative, detail oriented and organized with an ability to meet deadlines and multi-task.
Be tactful, diplomatic and have the ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when dealing with donors and donor information.
Have a sense of curiosity and be enthusiastic about learning.
