Job Profile Summary

Under limited direction, the position provides leadership and operational oversight of select college-wide events that align with the College’s Social Enterprise Plan and institutional goals. Works collaboratively with the Associate Vice President, Public Relations and Communication in developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating related strategies and initiatives

  

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s  Degree (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Six years of general business experience, including three years in a supervisory or management role.

Essential Functions:

  • Other - 30%: Develops and executes operational plans for events, including those initiated by the Office of the President. Coordinates and directs logistical support for events including the work of contract personnel and all event support staff such as ushers, security guards, caterers and decorators, and setup crews. Develops and maintains effective relationships with service contractors, caterers and other suppliers of event services.
  • Other - 20%: Provides support for coordinated community engagement and sponsorship, including communication, administrative, monetary or in-kind resources. Leverages community relations meetings and contracted vendor for assistance and strategic planning.
  • Other - 10%: Manages speaking engagement requests related to the Office of the President and volunteer activities coordinated by the College, including responding to requests, tracking, and reporting.
  • Other - 10%: Collaborates and builds relationships with representatives of the college's various centers and campuses to ensure protocols are adhered to at their events.
  • Other - 5%: Assists in briefs to the President, Trustees, and senior staff as it pertains to their attendance at events to represent the College. Manages logistics for official Broward College Trustee related events and meetings.
  • Other - 5%: Ensures that Broward College’s standard of hospitality and brand is upheld for all events by offering its departments information and resources on event planning, best practices, and policies. Continually works with IT, Student Life, and other departments, as needed to improve these processes.
  • Other - 5%: Develops, manages and executes a strategic plan and goals for special major events. Monitors and reports on event attendance, budget and overall return on investments.
  • Other - 5%: Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of vendors, including coaching and terminating.
  • Other - 5%: Collaborates with Marketing to review and recommend the design and production of special publications (i.e., invitations for events, ads for event journals, signage banners) for college-wide events.
  • Other - 5%: Performs related duties as assigned.
