Job Description

The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) reports to the Chief Diversity Officer. In this role, the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is responsible for consulting, facilitating, integrating, leading, and driving efforts for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the College. The Director of DEI, in collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer, is responsible for working towards achieving and evaluating progress toward CSN’s DEI goals, recommending, and implementing DEI programs and programming, and collecting meaningful data to assess needs and program impact in line with CSN’s Strategic Plan. Leadership is required for the development of campus-based programming, education, and initiatives that engage the entire campus community. The director plays a key role in shaping the campus climate and culture into one that not only engages members of the college community in relevant and respectful dialogue but also urges and supports individuals and communities to recognize and value the value of DEI and to lead, influence and take actions to create and sustain a culture that embraces DEI.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college/university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 4-5 years professional experience.

  • 2-3 years of supervisory/management experience.

  • Skill in leadership qualities, including motivation, supervision, delegation, planning, and assessment; ability to train, mentor, and effectively communicate with staff, faculty, and students at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field from an accredited college/university.

  • Experience in a leadership position in a post-secondary institution, preferably community college.

  • Knowledge of best practices and theory in DEI.

  • Visionary and innovative leadership with demonstrated professional development and experience in using qualitative, quantitative, or assessment data to drive effective practices related to DEI.

The duties, knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to promote productive collaboration across multiple stakeholders involved in diversity and inclusion efforts.

  • Experience generating curriculum, creating professional development opportunities associated with diversity and inclusion topics, and knowledge of training and development methodology.

  • Knowledge and understanding of student development theory and student learning outcomes. 

  • Ability to create, lead, and sustain a culture of equity, inclusion, and belongingness.

  • Ability to navigate and work across a complex, matrixed structure.

Starting Salary Range

Administrative Faculty D

The minimum starting salary is $94,455. The successful candidate may be placed above the minimum based on education and experience.
