Job Description

The Department of Music of the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a faculty position to begin on September 1, 2023, pending budgetary approval.

Position: Visiting Senior Lecturer in Music Theory; non-tenure stream

Duties: Teach three introductory undergraduate courses per semester in music fundamentals or related classes according to the instructor’s expertise.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have received a Ph.D. in Music Theory by September 1, 2023.

The successful candidate will work closely with the music theory faculty. We are particularly interested in candidates with a track record of work among students across various music disciplines.

The Department of Music offers the B.A. degree within a liberal arts school and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Musicology, Ethnomusicology, Jazz Studies, and Composition and Theory. The undergraduate program provides students with instruction in music history, world perspectives, theoretical frameworks, performance, and composition of music and encourages interaction across sub-disciplines.
