Summary

The Gynecologic Oncology Division for Baylor College of Medicine Obstetrics and Gynecology Department works in collaboration with Texas Children's Hospital Pavilion for Women and Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center.  The lab is seeking for a full-time Research Technician I to work on research projects. Research Technician I will be a part of the Gynecological Oncology lab performing routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results. They are seeking a motivated individual to join the team who has experience and knowledge in medicine, basic science, and clinical research. The lab is looking for an individual who can work in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment and is detailed oriented. This individual will be responsible for coordinating day to day activities of research protocols, ensuring accurate data collection, documentation, organization, and safety of research participants. This individual will also be involved in day-to-day laboratory operations. Collaborative environment that encourages publications and authorship.

Job Duties

  • Conducts routine laboratory experiments that will aim at identifying the cells within the female reproductive tract that are the source of many serous ovarian cancers.
  • Performs animal experiments and mouse colony maintenance. 
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data in order to provide any positive results from this study to be used as a basis for competitive grant applications to NIH or other funding bodies including private philanthropists.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment as necessary to maintain the flow of the lab.
  • Documents results of experiments handled in the lab and assists with the preparation of laboratory reports.
  • Maintains and cleans equipment and work area.
  • Operates laboratory equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
