Welcome to the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia and Augusta University Health. Our top priority is the provision of thorough and compassionate patient care. Within our department you will find doctors who are interested in matching your concerns with accurate diagnoses and treatments. We seek not only to provide the right treatment, but also to educate you in regard to your condition so that you too may be involved in its management. Our educational mission is broadly focused. Upon completion of the 3 year course of instruction our residents are able to enter comprehensive ophthalmic practice or pursue fellowship training. Through continuing medical education activities the local ophthalmic community as well as our team of eye care providers are given opportunity to discuss and implement recent advances in the medical and surgical care of the eye.

Job Summary
Maintains calendars and coordinates meetings and patient appointments. Handles routine correspondence and prepares appropriate responses. Completes forms, applications, and/or correspondence associated with patients and students. Uploads information to EMR5. Handles logistics for meetings and special events. Prepares related expense reports and reimbursements. Maintains databases and spreadsheets. Establishes and organizes filing systems. Performs related responsibilities required.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include but not limited to: Assist faculty with travel by completing a variety of duties including processing registration forms, making travel arrangements, collecting receipts and preparing travel expense statements for final review before submission for reimbursement. Schedule and provide logistical and other support for a variety of events for department members Including faculty meetings with clinical vendors, interviews, etc. Coordinate annual department event hosted by faculty for staff including contacting, reviewing and assisting with the selection of external vendors and assisting with processing vendor payments. Prepare and track correspondence and documentation related to patient care and referral needs. Maintain faculty clinical statistic data sheets which reports clinical volumes, work relative value unit, pediatric and adult inpatient and outpatient procedures along with other faculty stats. Prepare forms, correspondence and reports which may include, researching materials and/or contacting appropriate individuals both on and off campus for information. Retrieve consults/notes from fax and scans into Ophthalmology EMR system. Maintain departmental databases and records, enter data and generate reports as directed, requiring knowledge of moderately complex to advanced database systems and strong attention to detail. Serve as coordinator for medical student rotations and observer ships.

Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible office support experience OR Associate degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may be substituted for experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
