Responsibilities
Responsible for adhering to the month-end, and year-end close deadline and accounting activities related to monthly reconciliation and analysis, as well as ensuring proper accounting of revenue recognition, account receivable aging, federal grants, and operating expenses.

Assist the Controller in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. This involves gathering and analyzing financial data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

Assist the Controller in the annual tax preparation and documentation, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and reporting requirements.

Assisting in the development and implementation of internal control procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate financial and audit risks.

Contributing to the enhancement of financial systems, reporting systems, processes, and controls to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness and implementing best practices.

Responsible for preparing and compiling analysis for quarterly committee meetings (investment, finance, audit, budget, board).

Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as Advancement, Financial Aid, and other departments, to ensure effective communication and coordination.

Support and assist in supervising the Business Office for all related business functionality, cash flow management, and disbursement activities.

Assisting with ad hoc projects and initiatives as assigned by the Controller and CFO.

Key liaison with the external auditors in all required fiscal audit preparation.

Provide training and mentoring to the existing and new team members as appropriate.

Experience and Qualifications
Required:
BS in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent degree
5 + years in higher education, non-profit or related field
Experience in managing and leading professional staff
Strong knowledge of fund accounting
Preferred: CPA
Skills/Abilities:
Strong knowledge of fund accounting
Experience with Colleague general ledger software or related system
Excellent analytical skills
Advanced Excel skills
Highly organized with keen attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills
