Job Summary
The Information Technology Unit of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES), the College of Agriculture (CoAg), and the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station (AAES), collectively known as “ACES-Ag”, at Auburn University seeks applicants for the position of Information Technology Manager. Reporting to the ACES-Ag IT Director, the IT Manager oversees and leads a team of talented IT professionals responsible for managing and supporting various technology resources in ACES, CoAg, and AAES. The IT Manager also provides expert advice, assistance, and guidance to other IT management.

The ideal candidate applies systems thinking, possesses superior interpersonal and communication skills, is self-motivated, and is a lifelong learner.

Working onsite is a requirement of the job. Work assignments may have established deadlines and require periods of “on-call” support responsibilities.

Essential Functions
Managing the ACES-Ag IT Technology and Infrastructure Support team to maximize effectiveness, achieve goals, and foster teamwork.
Overseeing the configuration and management of ACES-Ag network equipment, Internet service, and related infrastructure in coordination with the AU Office of Information Technology to ensure compliance with AU security requirements, maximize performance and cost efficiencies, and minimize downtime.
Overseeing procedures and processes related to endpoint device management for ACES-Ag to ensure compliance with AU security requirements, facilitate consistent configurations and regular backups, and maintain an inventory of assets.
Overseeing the management and coordination of ACES-Ag audio visual resources including videoconferencing, web conferencing, streaming, and digital signage.
Overseeing the management of the ACES-Ag IT Helpdesk that provides faculty, staff, and administrators with timely problem resolutions and superior customer service.
Consulting with faculty, staff, and administrators regarding options for in-house solutions vs. commercial solutions related to networks, endpoint computing, and audio-visual equipment.
Contributing to strategic planning and financial budgeting for information technology in ACES-Ag.
Conducting employee training as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

Experience:
5 years of experience in a specific IT specialty. Knowledge of project and operations management. Supervision experience and team leadership skills including motivating team members, organizing group processes, fostering collaboration, and empowering, coaching, mentoring, and training team members. Experience modeling ethical integrity and championing diversity and inclusiveness. Ability to translate specific strategic information into operational programs. Industry related skills to include knowledge of the IT industry and trends, knowledge of IT security best practices, and proficiency in ITIL.

Typical starting salaries are between $87.2K and $105.6K
Salary Grade: $68,900 – $124,000

Experience with network configuration and management including routers and switches.
Experience with endpoint device management including configuration, applications, and security.
Knowledge of audio-visual hardware and software including IP cameras, microphones, videoconferencing, streaming, and digital signage.
Strong technical aptitude and computer skills.
Proficiency with professional computer systems and office applications.

Other desired qualifications include: experience with Linux servers and applications (Mailman, Nagios, DNS, mail, crons, log, firewalls, and patching), Microsoft Active Directory and Intune, Ubiquiti equipment and UNMS/Unifi management consoles, ServiceNow, KACE, PowerBi, Unified Communications, audio-visual equipment, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
