This position is for an ATC Lab Assistant in the School of Aviation Studies. The person hired will support the Air Traffic Management Program primarily as a pseudo pilot and lab assistant in the ATC Simulation Labs, much like a CFI conducts flight simulation instruction and provides support. The individual will also assist in classroom instruction as required, much like a CFI conducts briefings and classroom instruction with students. The person hired will also occasionally be needed to work special events, such as tours in the Aviation Department, and other duties as required.

 

Job Requirements

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED AND;

  • At least one year experience as an Air Traffic Control Pseudo Pilot OR an  Associates Degree or higher from an FAA Air Traffic-Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) School. These requirements would be comparable to the need for a flight instructor to have completed the CFI course along with appropriate flight ratings.

Skills:

  • Ability to follow lesson plan material
  • Ability to speak clearly in a classroom lecture environment
  • Ability to work in a team teaching environment
  • Ability to work with Information Technologies (IT) professionals in troubleshooting ATC Simulation equipment

Certifications: None

Department Preferences: 

  • Familiarity with Adacel "MaxSim" Tower and Radar simulation
  • Prior experience as a Pseudo Pilot at the FAA Academy OR at an AT-CTI school
  • Familiarity with ATC Simulation Equipment from an operational perspective 

Supervision: Direct supervision by OU AT-CTI Program Director.
