Job Description

The Coordinator of the Officiating Program is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the recruitment and retention of officials in cooperation with the Southern Nevada Officials Association. In addition to developing the SCORE program, designed to increase the number of licensed officials by ten percent each institutional year.  The administrator will oversee the planning and scheduling of training sessions and On-boarding of trained officials for community sporting events on all levels.  This position will oversee the ordering, inventory, rentals, and sales of gear and equipment needed for officiating sports. They will also provide general administrative data to the Director of Athletics and Recreation and the SNOA Governing body and president.  In addition, the position will oversee all aspects of officiating and table management of CSN athletic events.

As the Head Coach this role will coordinate all activities of the chosen sport staff, part and full time, in the planning, organizing and coaching of the College of Southern Nevada athletic team; ensure compliance by all coaches, with College, Conference, NSHE, CSN and NJCAA policies and regulations.

Recruit and provide educational and athletic opportunities for students from the greater Las Vegas area and Nevada. The position will also create an atmosphere and recruit student athletes for the program which fit the CSN and NJCAA Division I philosophy for athletics. The Head Coach will strive to maintain a roster of students that is 80% local students with variations approved by the Director of Athletics.

In cooperation with the athletic department, the Head Coach will oversee and maintain facility usage, and sustain at acceptable levels for competition by all participants.

The Head Coach will ensure academic success and transferability of student athletes in the CSN program.

  • Defines the scope of the project in collaboration with the Director of Athletics and SNOA president, creates a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  • Executes the project according to the project plan, develops forms and records to document project activities.
  • Documents processes and disseminating information to all relevant stakeholders. Advanced knowledge of business operations and project management.
  • Excellent recordkeeping, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage diverse responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Proofreading and editing documents;
  • Preparing reports and forms;
  • Typing correspondence, memos, and/or other related information;
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and staff of various levels within the organization.
  • Ability to recruit students at the NJCAA level.
  • Ability to represent the college in exercising good human relation skills in the community and state.
  • Proven ability to assist in fund raising events, corporate sponsorships and scholarships.
  • Proven teacher and developer of skill and athletic knowledge
  • Must have a working knowledge of how to maintain and repair the facility. Ability to maintain athletic/gym equipment and perform minor mechanical repairs.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA, CSN and NSHE academic advising and graduation requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of AED/CPR and sports medicine theories and techniques.
  • Ability to hire, supervise and direct all part time and volunteer assistants in proper function and assignments
