Position Summary

Office of Intercollegiate Athletics seeks a dynamic, forward thinking and engaging Women’s Assistant Basketball Coach to join our department of athletics. The successful candidate will demonstrate support for diversity, equity and inclusiveness as well as participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment.

Under the direction of the Head Women’s Basketball coach, the assistant coach will have responsibilities within all aspects of program management including, but not limited to: practice and game preparation, recruiting, scheduling of team travel and meals, game sheets, statistics, coordination of film review sessions, planning of team activities, scouting reports on opponents, camps and clinics, game day and practice facility set-up, academic monitoring, fundraising and volunteer events.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must demonstrate the ability to recruit, coach and improve (teach) talented student-athletes. Exhibit leadership and professional behavior in dealing with student athletes and staff. Must be a team player, and have the ability to support and assist other employees. Develop a positive atmosphere for the program both internally and externally within the athletic department and College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

The assistant coach will be expected to attend all practices, games, staff meetings, retreats, golf tournaments, one night of volunteer work at the Opportunity Village's Magical Forest, awards banquet, staffing and working athletic events a few times for the designated sports during their seasons. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sedentary Work- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity of condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.  Requires frequent, sometimes prolonged work on a personal computer/laptop.

ADDITIONAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Working weekends, and evenings will be required as well as extensive travel around the Las Vegas valley and the state.  Occasional out of state travel for games and recruiting purpose.  Additional physical lifting may be required to completed job assignments that exceed 10 pounds of force.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and previous college basketball coaching and or playing experience required. General knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, NJCAA policies and compliance issues. Must have experience in recruiting college student-athletes.

SALARY

Flat Rate: TBD (10-month period)

Camps/Clinics: The Assistant Coach can earn extra money through camps and clinics through the year.
