Job Summary
Under the direction of the ECRH Director of Nursing, assists with the planning, organizing, and directing of all nursing activities in assigned area/facility. Responsible for the assistance with quality of nursing care provided. Assists with directing subordinate staff.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to: General Management
  • Assists with direction and supervision to the department of Nursing (DON); assists with assuming responsibility and accountability for the delivery of nursing services on the ECRH Gracewood Campus.
  • Assists with allocating department resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Provides assistance in the collaboration with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to assist in the development, support and coordination of resident care, related administrative functions, and to provide assistance in representing the interests of the hospital.
  • Assists with developing, maintaining, and implanting nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, hospital philosophy, and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provides assistance with communicated and interpreting policies and procedures to nursing staff, and assists with monitoring staff practices and implementation.
  • Provides assistance with participating in daily or weekly management team meetings
  • to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel, or resident complaints or concerns.
  • Assists with evaluating the work performance of all nursing personnel, assists in the determination of wage increases, and implements discipline according to operational policies.
  • Assists with ensuring delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage.
  • Assists with overall supervision of resident assessments and care plans.
  • Assists in the collaboration with physicians, consultants, and staff, to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems.
  • Assists with overseeing and supervising development and delivery of in-service education to equip nursing and other direct care staff with sufficient knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, quality care and respect for residents.
  • Assists with preparing staff for regulatory and accreditation surveys, instructing staff on matters of conduct and disclosure, being interviewed by surveyors, immediate corrections of problems noted by surveyors, etc.
  • Assists with making long-range plans and reviewing of activities, problems and functions of services being delivered.
  • Assists with organizing and planning a systematic and continuous quality/performance improvement program for the practice of nursing.
  • Assist in collaboration with physicians, consultants, and staff to complete Mortality Reviews.
Financial Management
  • Assists with participating in the development for the nursing department personnel and supply budget.
Human Resources
  • Assists with managing human resources and employee relations functions of the DON. Assists with maintaining staffing in the DON to ensure the most effective and efficient use of resources as measured by cost and quality criteria.
  • Assists with maintaining statistics on nurse staffing and utilization.
  • Assists with developing staffing patterns.
  • Assists with participation in recruitment and selection of nursing staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited university with a minimum of two years of related clinical and/or management experience OR Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited college or university with five years of related clinical and/or management experience and successful completion of the Nurse Leadership Academy within one year of employment OR eight years of experience as a registered nurse, including two years of experience in Developmental Disabilities and three years of supervisory experience.

Other Required Qualifications
Current active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Experience with assisting and direction of a nursing program at a state or private hospital.
Experience as a supervisor in the Developmental Disabilities setting.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Ability to interpret policy to nursing personnel.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of the administration and organization of nursing services.
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, procedures, and techniques.
Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing the practice of nursing and the provision of health care to clients.

SKILLS
Skills to plan, organize, manage and evaluate the delivery of a variety of nursing services.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/Nights/Weekends (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 23

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
