Position Summary

Perform duties as directed in dosimetry, calibration, treatment planning, protection, and safety as they relate to radiation therapy.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Under supervision of a licensed medical physicist, calculates treatment time and prepares dosimetric information including: retrieving previous treatment records, contour taking, computer assisted treatment planning, computation of dose to points of interest, in-vivo dosimetry, design of beam shaping blocks and tissue compensators, documentation and treatment portal design using Phanta.
  • Assists a Quality Assurance Program for Clinical Radiation Dosimetry: reviews of proper dose delivery and cumulative dose; compares computed dose with delivered dose using diodes or TLD's; performs tests to check operation of therapy machines; recalibrates therapy machines.
  • Participates in Brachytherapy treatment planning and QA programs.
  • Participates patient specific phantom QA, calibration of therapy units and other assigned tasks.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Physics or Engineering; Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements

Minimum Experience: 0 years of experience.

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • CPR

Preferred education, experience and skills:

  • Master's Degree
  • Radiation Physics, Computer Engineering, Electric Engineering
