Rider University invites applications for University Investigators.  The University Investigators serve as part of a team that investigates complaints of harassment and discrimination, including sexual harassment and assault, pursuant to Rider’s Anti-Harassment and Non-Discrimination Policy. The position supports the University in providing a workplace and educational environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation by conducting thorough, reliable, and impartial investigations and timely resolution of formal complaints.  Other assignments as required.

This position is a hybrid position (largely remote with some in-person responsibilities) and is paid per diem.

Position Requirements

  • An advanced degree or a combination of education/training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree.
  • At least two years of professional experience conducting formal complaint investigations, preferably involving issues of alleged sexual conduct.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze and apply legal and internal policy standards to specific factual situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with professionally, impartially, and excellent judgment.
  • Demonstrated effective building and maintaining working relationships, organizational, interviewing, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in written communications, including the ability to convey relevant information in clearly written, detailed reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with individuals from underrepresented groups with understanding and sensitivity to experiences of individuals from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive and/or stressful situations in a professional, confidential, and trauma-informed manner.
  • Computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office and Google applications is essential.
  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required 

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience working in higher education is preferred.
