Aging and Metabolism Reserach Program (A&M)

The Stout Laboratory and A&M Research Program welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds that thrive in a highly collaborative and supportive environment. We are strongly committed to providing individualized mentoring and assistance with career advancement through the implementation of a postdoctoral mentoring committee. The A&M Research Program, which currently consists of 13 highly collaborative investigators, provides an exceptional training environment in aging biology (Geroscience). The A&M Research Program also has a strong collaborative history with faculty from the Oklahoma Center for Geroscience and Health Brain Aging at OUHSC which has resulted in a Geroscience Training Grant (T32 AG052363) that supports graduate students and postdoctoral fellows at OMRF and OUHSC. The collaborative program also houses the Oklahoma Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in Basic Biology of Aging (P30 AG050911), which provides pilot funding for junior investigators. OMRF also offers an annual grant writing course (F-troop) for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows that plan to prepare grant applications (F- or K-awards) for the NIH. The OMRF Postdoctoral Association offers additional training opportunities related to grant writing, presentation skills, and career development. Responsibilities
The Stout Lab is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join the multidisciplinary laboratory within the Aging & Metabolism (A&M) Research Program at OMRF. The fellow will investigate the basic mechanisms that underlie gonadal aging and/or hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis dysfunction with advancing age. The successful candidate will employ a wide range of techniques including the generation of novel mouse models, isotopic labeling, single-cell transcriptomics, spatial transcriptomics, histology & pathological assessments, and a variety of other cellular & molecular biology techniques. The candidate will present their data regularly in laboratory meetings, local seminars and symposiums, and will have opportunities to present their work at national conferences. A requirement of the position is that the candidate must demonstrate ethical behavior at all times, a high-level of scientific rigor, and must be detail-oriented and able to work independently and as part of a team.



Qualifications
The Ideal Candidate will have:• A PhD in reproductive biology, endocrinology, or related discipline• Prior experience evaluating germ cells, gonadal function, and/or fertility in rodent models • At minimum, a basic knowledge of rodent handling, rodent surgical skills, and statistical procedures• Computer skills and prior experience with bioinformatic data analysis• An ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing (e.g. manuscript writing)• Prior experience, or a willingness, to mentor graduate students and/or laboratory technicians
