College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary
This Research Associate position is immediately available to work on NIH funded research projects regarding nutritional factors, inflammation, aging, omics and biomarkers regarding obesity, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, interdisciplinary and well recognized team under the guidance and supervison of multi-princial investigators. Prior statistical and/or bioinformatic analyse experience such as SPSS, STATA, R package or other analytic software tools are preferred, but not required. This position may also be working with human subjects or patients on health disparity and community outreach.

The duties include, but are not limited to: Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while insuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.Subject recruitment, focus group interview, mobile health projects, organizes and stores data and research protocols and ensures that all study details are documented and protected in accordance with established procedures and requirements.Analyze results of experiements and procedures using computer bioinformatics techiques and statistical analyses. Works on a day-to-day basis with the leadership team and evaluation team members to implement research protocols, including data cleaning, maintenance and analysis.Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature; summarize and evaluate findings; Present findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally and internationally; Compose articles for publication in scientific journals; Assist with research grant proposal development; and Develop derivative applications of proposals developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects.Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants and other research personnel engaged in research activities and/or related laboratory work. Advise principal investigators, other students and orther research personnel on research techniques, procedures and other technological aspects of research activities. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records. This position requires responsible decision making regarding the suspension or continuation of certain projects, and keeping the lab functional. Important decisions will be made in consultation with the principal investigator. Good oral and written communication skills. Interaction with subjects, supervisor, (daily), other research personnel and staff (daily). Ability to work independently with only general supervision. Good organizational skills, detail oriented and ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to complete work and to meet deadlines. Willingness and ability to work with research teams. Basic competency in data management and analysis or willingness to learn.

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: R14

Salary: Minimum $36,197.00/Annually - $38,000.00/Annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
