Job Summary
Job ID: 255434Position: 20010586 Pamplin College and the Department of Music at Augusta University is seeking to hire a Lecturer of Voice for a non-tenure track limited term position beginning August 2023. The acceptable candidate should have the ability to teach undergraduate applied voice, direct the AU Opera Ensemble and serve as the Director of the AU Opera Initiative. They should also be able to provide intensive musical training on the collegiate level for musicians preparing for a profession in music education or music performance while serving non-music majors and music minors with a variety of skills. Since musical performance is a vital component of the program, the ability to perform individualized instruction allows for a nurturing environment reflecting high regard for the musical legacies of the past as well as preparedness for the future. This position is limited to one academic year.

Responsibilities
  • Teach coursework in areas of interest and specialty as needed, including opera and song literature, diction, and vocal pedagogy.
  • Recruit and retain high caliber voice students.
  • Maintain a professional profile that reflects the career of a distinguished teacher/performer.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of all facets of the vocal area, including vocal studios, opera/musical theater program and choral ensembles.


Required Qualifications
  • DMA or equivalent professional experience is required.
  • National distinction as a performer with a minimum of two years of experience singing on the concert and operatic stage.
  • Demonstrated successful experience teaching voice in a university setting.
  • Significant professional experience at the national and/or international level as a performer.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract quality undergraduate voice students.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.


Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.

Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
