College/Department Information
The Controller's Division Missions are: Account for all financial resources and provide advice to administrators, faculty, and students to support the University's overall mission of instruction, research, and healthcare services; Manage the investment of all University funds to ensure maximization return on investments; Receive and deposit all funds due to the University in a timely manner; Ensure compliance with both internal and external regulations, policies and procedures; Maintain and process the University payroll, accounts payable, and travel disbursements efficiently, accurately, and timely; Prepare financial and statistical information to the University management, federal and state agencies, and other interested parties; Maintain the University's accounting and financial reporting systems.

Job Summary
This position serves as an accountant in the Financial Accounting and Reporting section of the Controller's Division. The position will actively participate in Financial Accounting activities to include monthly and annual financial reports and statements, and reconciliations of the general ledger. This position will also provide data and reports as requested for USG, BOR, Auditors and other reports and surveys as needed. This position will also help support other staff members in Financial Accounting and Reporting as resources are needed during heavy demands for reporting.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to: Ad-hoc reports and surveys
Prepare various ad-hoc reports and surveys daily, weekly, monthly and annually. This will include pulling data from PeopleSoft Financials using queries and nVision report and MS Excel spreadsheets. This user will also help with Tableau reports and dashboards. Reconciliations
Review, reconcile and approve Commitment Accounting Adjustments that are submitted, and run associated process.
Journal Entries
Prepare and enter general ledger journal entries.
Generate reports for the State
Pull data and create reports/output evidence for State Auditor requests and State required reporting. Cross training
Cross train with other Financial Accounting Accountants in preparation to handle other duties as needed. Other Duties
Performs other duties as requested.

Required Qualifications
Educational RequirementsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or related field with demonstrated emphasis in accounting course work with a minimum of three years of applicable experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Experience in higher education with a knowledge of financial accounting and reporting. Also, experience using OneUSG Connect HCM and PeopleSoft Financials is preferable.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Ability to work independently on complex issues and work successfully with coworkers, management and consultants

Ability to maintain confidentiality, follow written processes, use multiple databases include financial systems, to reconcile accounts, and to recommend solutions to discrepancies as well as continue to monitor accounts and systems ongoing

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of accounting, Excel including formulas and pivot tables to achieve management and understanding of large amounts of financial data

SKILLS
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, analytical, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 16

Salary: Minimum $41,846.00/Annually - $50,000/Annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
