College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary
The Augusta University Medical College is seeking candidates for a Student Success and Learning Skills Coordinator with expertise in Medical Education in areas of teaching methods, learning styles and strategies, and working with students at risk for academic difficulty. This individual will also serve to provide anticipatory guidance to large groups of students as they transition through the medical school curriculum, and will provide customized support to individual students on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with faculty members for early identification of students exhibiting signs of academic difficulty.
  • Meet with individual students to identify learning preferences
  • Assist students in developing learning and study strategies that are appropriate for their needs
  • Assist students in developing timeline and content for individualized study and remediation plans
  • Document student interactions and maintain student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Participate in faculty discussion and identification of at risk students
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs for teaching students effective study strategies for high stakes exams. (e.g., Step exams, Clerkship exams, and NBME exams).
  • Develop and deliver in person workshops and/or online modules to enhance active learning strategies in a diverse student population using evidence-based learning strategies.
  • Assist the leadership team with the design and delivery of faculty development session, workshops, and consultation.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure appropriate referrals with various university support services such as tutoring, personal counseling and/or mental health services, ADA resources, academic advising, and career advising.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of the curriculum and timelines for students at various levels of progress in the curriculum.
  • Seek out new and innovative curricula, texts, and technological applications to benefit student learning.
  • Prepare comprehensive data and remediation information to leadership of medical school to provide feedback to the medical curricular needs
  • Assist with training and development and of peer student tutors
  • Oversee recruitment, scheduling, and policies surrounding tutoring program
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, social work, psychology, higher education or related field. One to two years of experience in higher education or related field.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 15

Salary: Minimum $38,913.00/Annually - $52,533.00/Annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
