Job Overview

The Senior Business Manager administers the day-to day coordination of the Business Service programs for the Law Center’s vendors, outsourced management contracts, employee, faculty, students and non-employee reimbursements. They oversee the day to day operations of the Law Center’s procurement, accounts payable and auxiliary business services that are maintained on campus, including but not limited to acting as a liaison and point of contact on a day to day basis for the various business service partners on campus to maintain existing operations.

The Senior Business Manager prepares the Business Services budget, reviews and approves expenses posted against the budget, and ensures that revenues are posted when finalized. They ensure prompt and accurate payments to vendors as identified in the various vendor contracts, as well as timely and accurate payments from vendors as identified in the various contracts.

As well, they identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; work with our business partners to implement improvements; and develop positive working relationships with vendors, the financial affairs team, student and staff leadership and other Law Center personnel as needed to ensure successful day to day operations of the various campus vendors as identified above.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Law Center’s Budgeting and Reporting Director, the Senior Business Manager interacts with all levels of Law Center staff, faculty, and students, as well as university vendors; and with university departments such as accounts payable, contracts, general accounting and procurement training. As well, they supervise a team of three to four business partners.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field – preference for Master’s degree
At least 4 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the administration of business operations and/or business services is preferred
Self-motivated with ability to come up with creative business solutions
A good grasp of accounting procedures and transactions, as well as strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, listening and negotiating skills
Preferred qualification

Familiarity with vendor management and operations based planning
