The Dance Program Coordinator will support the Director of Dance in day-to-day operations and be expected to keep regular hours both in office and in the studio in addition to nights and weekends as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
Teaching dance classes as assigned in the candidate's area of expertise.
Choreographic and creative projects as assigned in the candidate's area of expertise.
Track, document and address attendance issues and administer follow up communications in accordance with the syllabus and dance program handbook.
Work with program teaching staff to organize and deliver Dance Company assessments and feedback on Blackboard and in person in a timely and orderly manner.
Assisting in all aspects of rehearsal direction and production management for the SHU Dance Program both on and off campus to ensure excellence in both performance quality and departmental reputation.
Support retention initiatives through various tasks as assigned
Identify and develop relationships with local high school and private studio dance directors to
Travel (including to regional events and internationally) will be required as needed to support recruitment and retention initiatives within the SHU Dance Company
Assist with dance studio upkeep as assigned
Keeping regular office hours for all administrative tasks as assigned
Requirements:
Participation is required in events that take place on Saturdays and Sundays. Some evening hours may be required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
B.A or B.F.A in Dance, Dance Education, or equivalent degree.
Experience in higher education, professional or private dance studio management
Teaching experience at the college or professional level in one or more disciplines of dance.
Experience rehearsing and overseeing all aspects of performance productions.
Experience conducting or overseeing dance auditions
Experience in dance adjudication with the ability to assess dance students at all levels in a variety of techniques.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
