Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the Mechanical – Electrical Trades Supervisor position. This is a full-time professional staff position located at the VU Main site in Vincennes, Indiana.

The Mechanical/Electrical Trades Supervisor oversees the daily supervision of multiple full-time employees. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems for Vincennes University. The Mechanical/Electrical Trades Supervisor is also responsible for: maintenance of the University energy management system, campus electrical and communications systems, safety systems, preventive maintenance program, and special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
Actively supervises, inspects, and evaluates the electrical, HVAC and Plumbing trades
Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of air conditioning, ventilation, heating, refrigeration equipment, electrical systems, communications infrastructure, and plumbing systems
Supervises the operation of and maintains energy management and building controls systems
Plans and supervises the preventive maintenance program, providing instruction and training to personnel as required
Oversees operations of the certified Pool Operator at the Aquatic Center
Set-up and review inspections and disposal of grease traps, wash pits and septic systems
Set-up and review inspections for boiler and pressure vessels, fire alarms, fire suppression systems, elevators, USTs, etc…
Responds to emergency calls on weekends and after hours as necessary
Participates in the selection, interview, disciplinary and evaluations process
Works with other trades supervisors to help maintain university systems and to perform maintenance and repairs as needed
Other duties within Architectural Services and the Physical Plant as assigned
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Possess a valid Driver’s license
5 years documented experience in the HVAC, plumbing and/or electrical field
Experience related to commercial HVAC, plumbing, electrical, safety and energy management preferred
High School diploma or equivalent, College degree and/or certificates are preferred
Communications - Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computer – Basic computer knowledge with ability to learn and use a variety software. Experience with building controls systems is preferred
Five years documented experience working in the institutional, commercial or industrial environment. Related skills in a combination of the following areas: HVAC, Plumbing, Electric, Asbestos, OSHA
Ability to communicate with co-workers and crew members
Understand and follow all safety procedures and use of safety equipment
Maintain a positive working relations with co-workers, faculty, and staff, students and the general public; will/can be required to work as a member of an assigned crew on large projects
Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal regulations including usage of SDS, confined space, bio-hazardous wastes, asbestos awareness, building code, electric code, etc.
Ability to provide instruction to assistants and participants in training of new employees
Ability to review and advise the budget office on utility costs
Ability to review and set-up inspections with local and state authorities
Able to respond to emergency situations, carry and respond to phone calls
