Description:The Teacher Education Department at Saint Mary's College seeks to hire a per-course adjunct to teach an upper division course in SPED. Candidates should be comfortable in a student-centered teaching environment with an interactive learning style. Work in a highly collaborative and cultural diverse classroom environment. Strong commitment to undergraduate, liberal arts education.

SPED 382 is designed to teach candidates for the Educational Specialist teaching credential the competencies needed in order to maintain a safe and productive learning environment for all students in the classroom. The purposes of the course are to provide students with (a) an understanding of the basic theory, terms and behavioral principles of human behavior, (b) the skills to apply those principles to teaching and effective classroom management, and (c) an opportunity to reflect on how evidence‐based practice in positive behavioral support and classroom management interfaces with cultural values, traditions, communication, learning styles, and relational patterns of culturally diverse students and their families.


Qualifications:
Master's degree in Education or related field

Candidates should also demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate, liberal arts education; be comfortable in a student-centered teaching environment with an interactive learning style; comfortably work in a highly collaborative and culturally diverse classroom environment. Strong commitment to undergraduate, liberal arts education. Candidates must reside in California.

Salary: $6,480-$10,308 dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
