Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

Assignments will vary depending on the event and crew, and will include serving as crew supervisor, stagehand, stage manager, sound technician, lighting or projection operator, recording engineer, event supervisor, etc.
Provide support operating, preparing and supervising the facilities, performances, events and student workers in Performance and Production venues on campus.
Provide technical support and supervision for performances and special events.
Set up, programming, operation and strike systems, staging and equipment for productions and events.
Set up, programming, and operation of sound, lighting and projection systems and equipment.
Supervision of Shop Facilities in support of safe use of resources.
Support load in and strike for events.
Crew supervision in support of performances and events such as academic and visiting artist concerts, academic, student and guest performances, lectures, recording sessions, academic ceremonies, conferences, external rental events.
Required Qualifications:

Minimum of one year of professional experience in one or more of the following entertainment technology areas: stage management and operations, live sound / recording engineering, theatrical lighting and electrics, projections, video production, event streaming, rigging, carpentry, safety, etc.
Ability to mentor and supervise crew of student technicians, and interface with front of house and event producer teams.
Creative problem solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot operations, connectivity, signal flow, and production systems.
Strong organizational and communication skills as required to support and prioritize multiple sometimes conflicting requests.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze needs, and make decisions related to the needs of events and clients.
Demonstrated ability to train, supervise and mentor student workers.
Ability to develop, read, understand and communicate production plans to constituents.
Schedule that will accommodate flexible event needs with the understanding that many events take place on evenings and weekends.
Experience and comfort working with strong personalities while maintaining a calm demeanor and easy going attitude.
Experience maintaining a safe working environment for crew, performers and audiences.
High School Diploma.

Preferred Qualifications:

Software experience with Qlab, recording software such as ETC lighting tools, Protools, Logic, Sequoia, Yamaha sound console remote control, etc.
Ability to work effectively as a part of the production team.
Work experience in event production in an educational setting.
Work experience at TCNJ or in similar performance venues.
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a related field.
Physical Demands:

Must be able to effectively work in a darkened backstage environment.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must be comfortable working on stairs, ladders and lifts, at heights exceeding 35 feet.
