Position Overview:
The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Broward College, reporting directly to the Board of Trustees. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and seasoned leader, working in tandem with various internal and external stakeholders. The individual will play a pivotal role in advancing the college's mission, values, and vision by leading its academic, administrative, and financial trajectories.
Eligibility:
• Current Broward College employee; or
• Former Broward College employee; or
• Former Board of Trustee member of Broward College
Minimum Education:
- Master's Degree required.
- An earned Doctorate from an accredited institution is highly desired.
Minimum Experience/Training:
- Fifteen or more years of successful senior-level administrative experience in higher education.
- Proficiency in planning, management, and oversight within a higher education framework.
- Demonstrable skill in budgetary planning and strategic formulation.
- Solid networking connections within national, regional, and state educational circles.
- Ability to effectively communicate and gain buy-in from diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional negotiation skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of the academic ecosystem, its administrative nuances, and operational best practices.
- Strong ethical standards and a commitment to Broward College’s values and mission.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership direction ensuring the college's mission is fulfilled. This encompasses the planning, administration, and continuous improvement of college-wide programs.
- Collaborate with the Board of Trustees in strategic planning, analysis, and evaluation of the institution's effectiveness.
- Outline the college’s long and short-term goals, organizational structure, and staffing framework.
- Administer and sustain programs and operations to align with the college's objectives.
- Champion an environment that encourages staff development and high morale.
- Strengthen relationships with faculty, students, staff, and other institutions, uplifting the college's public reputation.
- Establish and nurture professional ties with higher education entities, seeking collaborative ventures, and liaising with legislative bodies on community college matters.
