Job Description

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge?  Do you have a background in immunometabolism and macrophage/monocyte biology.  Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

This post is funded from a senior fellowship grant awarded to associate professor Dr Sinisa Savic. The aim of the fellowship is to investigate the role of post-zygotic, somatic mutations in the pathogenesis of various immune mediated inflammatory diseases and their influence on response to treatment. There are already well-established collaborations, locally, nationally and internationally to ensure that post holder will have access to rich, unique, and well-defined patient cohorts. Furthermore, there are established links with NIHR-BioResource, Leeds NIHR Biomedical centre and UK Biobank. The post holder will be working closely with another PDFR, two research technicians, one PhD students and one clinical fellow to deliver objectives of this project. The post holder will be expected to develop functional assays to validate effects of novel genetic findings on immunometabolism and inflammatory function of myeloid cells. Previous experience in immunology, use of techniques such as Seahorse XF Analyzer, carbon tracing, LC-MS and polar metabolomics, CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing or lentiviral plasmid transduction to manipulate and study immunometabolism of myeloid cell lines is essential.
