Job Description

Overview of the Role

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge?   Do you have a background in applied health research?  Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

We wish to recruit a Senior Research Fellow to work on a programme of work to develop and evaluate a new therapeutic approach with individuals who repeatedly self-harm. The overall programme of work is called FReSH START: Function REplacement in repeated Self-Harm: Standardising Therapeutic Assessment and the Related Therapy. FReSH START is funded by the National Institute for Health Research through Programme Grants for Applied Health Research. The post holder will manage the overall programme, co-ordinate the activities of associated research staff, and play a key role in the successful completion of the various work packages.

This multi-site programme has four work packages that cover the development, refinement and feasibility testing of the intervention with the final work package being a definitive trial with process analysis. Initial funding will cover the programme up to the definitive trial with an extension to cover the final 32 months should the progression criteria be successfully met.

In order to undertake this role, you will have an understanding of NHS services including mental health services, and experience that equips you to manage a large-scale research project, co-ordinating the delivery of multiple projects in a healthcare setting. You should be familiar with NHS ethics and governance arrangements and be familiar with both quantitative and qualitative methods in applied health research. This post will involve some travel to study sites nationally.
