Key Responsibilities
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Juniata College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Civil Engineering to begin in Fall 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses and conduct scholarly research in one or more of the following core disciplines: Transportation, Structures, or Geotechnical engineering; advise and mentor undergraduate students; participate in all aspects of the program’s activities; and serve the profession.

The engineering program is a relatively new initiative at Juniata College. We are currently entering our 3rd year of Environmental Engineering and will expand to Civil Engineering in the Fall 2024. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to help shape and grow the program and department and is expected to build on existing strengths and assist with the continued development and growth of the department. As a student-focused institution with a strong hands-on curriculum, we emphasize undergraduate education that provides technical excellence with a significant emphasis on real world applications. We are therefore seeking candidates with a strong passion for teaching and undergraduate research. Knowledge of the ABET process is also desired.

Position Qualifications
1) an earned doctorate in civil engineering or a closely related field.; 2) have the interest and desire to teach at the undergraduate level; 3) a strong indication to contribute to the teaching mission of Juniata College; 4) a plan to develop an externally funded research program within the applicant’s area of expertise; 5) knowledge of ABET process
Supervision Required/Given
This position is a member of the Environmental Science Department reporting to the Provost.
