Job ID: 259437Position#: 20010558 The College of Education and Human Development at Augusta University seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Department of Research, Counseling, and Curriculum. The selected faculty member will teach and advise graduate students in the MEd in Counselor Education Program which offers concentrations in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The selected faculty will have a demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and scholarly activity at the university level. Teaching effectiveness can be demonstrated through a variety of ways including integration of prior clinical experience, distance learning, and creation of culturally responsive environments.
Responsibilities
Teaching - 60%Developing and updating curriculumTeaching and advising graduate students in the MEd in Counselor Education ProgramManaging courses through systematic use of syllabiKeeping accurate records of students' class performance, attendance, and gradesAdopting and implementing common course objectivesParticipating in assessment of student learning outcomes Service - 10%
Providing service to the department, college, university, community and profession Scholarship - 30%
Engaging in notable scholarly activity and researchDistributing research in international/national peer-reviewed journals and conferences
Required Qualifications
Doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision from a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited program.
Licensed or license eligible as a school counselor or professional counselor (LPC) in Georgia.
Prior counseling work experience; prior college teaching experience; professional identity in counseling through membership in organizations
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
    Preferred Qualifications
    A concentration in School Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the masters or doctoral levelEvidence of scholarly productivity (e.g. published articles, book chapters,books, and/or professional conference presentations); experience with online teaching.Experience in grant writing, development, and/or procurement in human services.
    Shift/Salary/Benefits
    This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.
    The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.
    Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
    Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
