Department Summary
Facilities Planning, Design and Construction (FPDC) provides the following services to the UNT community: construction estimating, site design, architectural & interior design, engineering design, full project management, construction inspection, furniture procurement, campus mapping, space analysis, and capital planning. FPDC is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable State & Federal statutes, laws and codes related to State buildings, procurement and construction. FPDC also maintains building records and data for all campus facilities including utility & infrastructure maps, surveys, site plans, floor plans, construction documents, & other building records.

The Facilities organization at UNT is a service provider comprised of the following divisions: Facilities Planning Design & Construction (PDC); Facilities Maintenance (FM) and Facilities Support & Services (FSS). We are responsible for the planning, renovation, maintenance and repair of university buildings and facilities, as well as other services playing an essential role to the mission of the University of North Texas. Facilities has over 325 employees who lead the way in caring for and operating over 175 facilities across 960 acres of property. Position Overview
Position Overview:
This entry-level position writes, edits, and disseminates creative content consistent with the communication strategy for the department. Representative duties include:
Create written and visual content, including graphics, photos, and videos, for varying mediums (online, print, broadcast). Products may include: articles, webpages, and social media.
Manages social media platforms and responds appropriately to time-sensitive situations.
Develop marketing material for departmental, university, and external audiences.
Represent department at outreach events.
Visually inspect copy and design material when self-editing or editing the copy of others to ensure accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Application of proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation to write accurate and compelling messages.
Schedule and conduct interviews with accurate note-taking.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field, or in communications, marketing, advertising, public relations; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Understanding of market segmentation, principles of marketing, integrated marketing communications principles and branding. Ability to visually inspect copy material.
Competency in MS Office and requisite publishing, graphic design and media tools.
Ability to think creatively, organize tasks, work independently and meet deadlines.
Ability to use Associated Press style.
Strong communications skills.
Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with creative design software
Experience managing web content
Experience managing social media channels

Required License / Registration / Certification
Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment; ability to drive a vehicle and maintain coverage under University liability insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.
