The College of Charleston Department of Mathematics invites applications for two tenure-track assistant professor positions beginning August 2024. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in statistics or a mathematical science with an emphasis in statistics, probability or data science by the employment start date. Since teaching, research and service make up the primary responsibilities of the position, a record of and potential for excellence in these areas, including directing student research, make up the basis for ranking candidates. We are seeking candidates whose teaching interest include all levels of undergraduate statistics and may include graduate level statistics courses and statistics courses required for our undergraduate data science program (run jointly with our computer science department).
The College of Charleston is a nationally recognized public liberal arts and sciences university located in the heart of historic Charleston, SC. Since our founding in 1770, we have maintained a strong liberal arts curriculum. The College is a state-supported master’s degree granting institution and ranks among the nation’s top universities in providing quality education in the arts, sciences, education, and business. The student body numbers approximately 10,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs combined. The student body numbers approximately 12,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs combined.
