Job Description

Summary

The Student Helper will assist with ongoing research on Alzheimer's disease. They will help with managing the mouse models we use to study the disease, with identifying specific genes harbored by those animals, and with analyzing the outcomes of our breeding or intervention experiments.

Job Duties

  • Performs weekly PCR genotyping reactions on mouse tissue biopsies.
  • Performs mouse euthanasia and brain dissection.
  • Performs tissue processing, sectioning, histological staining, and microscopic imaging.
  • Keeps record of all work conducted.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a High School or College Student (undergraduate or graduate).
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior laboratory experience, including mouse handling, euthanasia, dissection.
  • Experience with PCR genotyping.
