Summary

The Aiden lab at BCM is focused on using genomic and epigenomic data in novel ways to explore fundamental biological mechanisms. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic student to join our team. It would be ideal for a junior or senior undergraduate who is interested in doing an honors thesis, or looking to gain research experience ahead of applying to graduate or professional school. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in molecular methods, including HiC, while assisting with important research in fundamental biological mechanisms

Job Duties

  • Assists in the execution of experimental protocols; the ideal candidate will have some knowledge of the HiC method.
  • Assists with documenting and communication (oral and written) of experimental results; assists in the collection, compilation, and analysis of literature and data.
  • Assists in the preparation of laboratory reports and publications.
  • Works effectively in a highly dynamic, multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment.
  • Participates in lab maintenance activities as directed.
  • Assists in performing intact HiC experiments and other experiments on mouse tissue samples, following established protocols and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Assists in the recording and documentation experiments accurately in laboratory notebooks or electronic databases.
  • Works effectively with team members, share insights, and actively participate in group meetings and discussions.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Assists with the analysis of data, generation of figures, and interpretation of results.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a High School or College Student (undergraduate or graduate).
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate/Graduate student pursuing a degree in Biology or related field
  • Basic knowledge of molecular biology techniques and laboratory procedures
  • Familiarity with HiC methods
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow directions accurately
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
