Job Description

The Astrophysics group at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to work on studies of Sun-like and low-mass stars, within the research group led by Prof Sean Matt.  Our growing research team is dynamic and collaborative and currently includes three PhD students and two undergraduate research students.  The overarching goal of our research is to develop a theoretical understanding of rotation, magnetic activity, and mass loss of solar-like and low-mass stars, including interactions with their environments (e.g., planets, accretion disks), from the pre-main-sequence phase to the end of the main sequence.  We encourage applications from all who have interests, skills, or experience in any of these areas and who will collaborate with the team.

Applicants should have completed requirements for a relevant PhD before the start date. This full-time position is for up to 3 years (2 years initial appointment plus 1 year renewal with satisfactory performance). The start date for the appointment is flexible, so please indicate a potential start date in your application.  There is ample funding for computing resources and travel, and there will also be the opportunity to gain experience in mentoring, outreach, and other departmental activities.

Applications should include: (1) a cover letter (optional, max 2 pages), (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) a brief research statement (max 2 pages) describing past work and future interests, and (4) having 3 reference letters sent by the application deadline.  All materials must be uploaded via this application system.
