Job Description

There are multiple posts available

Salary: Grade 8 (£45,585– £54,395 p.a.) Depending on experience

This role will be based on the university campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner.  We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you ready to make a meaningful difference that empowers our employees to thrive and develop a learning culture to support maximising performance of individuals and teams? Are you a great people person who understands how to get the best out of people?  Can you exercise empathy and engage with your team on sensitive and emotive issues in a constructive fashion?

This is an exciting time to join IT with our vision for the future to "empower colleagues and students to embrace University values, be successful in their endeavours and support the delivery of the University strategy through effective adoption and use of digital technologies”.

Supporting that vision, we are looking to support our people more effectively with a focus on leadership, training and development.   We recognise that people are at the core of our success and are looking for dedicated Operations Managers to lead, coach, and develop our team members, ensuring they are engaged, motivated, and aligned with University and departmental objectives. The ideal candidate will be a passionate leader with a track record of driving team success through positive relationships, feedback, and goal-setting.

You will have excellent line management skills and experience, enabling you to support, develop and motivate your team to be able to work effectively and productively as part of the large and diverse technical footprint of IT at the University.

Effective workforce planning is key to achieving our vision through recruitment, training, all aspects of people management and supporting development.  You will work closely with the Platform and Service Owners to agree technical capabilities and responsibilities of your team.

This is a people management role and is focused on the line management and support of a large team of technical staff. Task management of these staff is provided on a matrix basis by Platform and Service Owners, Product Owners and Scrum Masters. You will support the delivery of service and change by fostering a high-performance culture.

This is a people management not a technical role and previous IT experience is a bonus rather than a requirement.

What we offer in return

And much more!
